Circa 1884 occupies the second floor of a historic building in downtown Louisville, Nebraska, built in the year 1884. Over the decades the structure has served as a general store, a dwelling, and, according to local history, a brothel. Since Prohibition, the first floor has been home to a bar under various names — known since 1981 as Good Times Saloon.
In 2014, a fire that began in a second-floor apartment destroyed much of Good Times and left the entire second story a charred, hollow shell. The remodel that followed rebuilt the first floor. The second floor sat untouched for years.
That second floor has now been carefully restored into Circa 1884, a cocktail bar and private event venue in the heart of Louisville, Nebraska. The reconstruction used local craftsmen and locally sourced materials throughout, preserving the character of the original 1884 building while creating a space built for private parties, rehearsal dinners, and small gatherings in the Louisville and greater Omaha area.
